SSPX With Bishop Fellay and Bishops Celebrate Immemorial Mass at Lourdes Shrine

Edit: the Society of Saint Pius X has celebrated Mass at the modernist St. Pius X, at the Lourdes Shrine in France. It's a crowning even in the pilgrimage whose motto is, "To Our Lady in the Footsteps of St. Pius X."  Despite the large size of the church meant to accommodate throngs of pilgrims, it looks practically full. The building can accomodate 25,000 worshipers.  The celebrant for this Christ the King Mass was Bishop Fellay with Bishops de Galaretta and Tisser de Mallerais in attendance, is part of a celebration for the centenary of St. Pius X.
Amazingly, they got permission to do this from the authority in charge of the site which must have been high level indeed. This is a signal event.

They've had permission to use this basilica for years. This is not news.

The fact that SSPX isn't being kicked around by those bishops in attendance makes my insides warm and fuzzy, at least.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't know and would be surprised, outraged and so on to find out.

Additionally, it is newsworthy that the SSPX is holding such a signal event in an "official" location which is under the control of Church authorities, especially when they've been rejected at other shrines, even after obtaining permission from the local ordinary in the first place.

Not everyone is as well informed and brilliant as you.

The SSPX actually has secret admirers among the wavering liberal minions but the fear of crossing the line or being seen to look as though they are, acts as a deterrent. Frankly, if you were sick and tired of belonging to a linsey-woolsey sectarian crowd who play at being protestant catholics then at some point you would be looking for an exit somewhere. You either leave the church; go fully evangelical protestant or discover tradition really does have something substantial to offer.

This is why The SSPX are best placed where they are - it illustrates amply that there is life to the full after the death of novus ordoism. The two Rites and subsequent beliefs are diametrically opposed and absolutely irreconcilable. Bishop Fellay really has to understand that neither he nor his confreres need "full communion" with that spiritually wan character who doesn't want to be pope.

Even if there's no official expectation that the Society unequivocally accept Vatican II and they can continue to criticize it as they have before?

What's the difference between you lot and people like Lawler, Vatican Insider, Catholic Answers and the like?

Fair play to you Tancred. Fair play to you.

Uninterested in good news, and have no expectation that God has allowed the world to become what it's become?

Wow! Very pleased to know this.

This is excellent. The line of priests in the beginning of the video seems to be never-ending, which is a good thing for the SSPX. Moreover, not many of they seem to be past 40.
Compare that to a procession of Vatican II "Pope Francis" minded liberals.
The procession would not be half as long, and their average ages would be close to or over 70, all grey and stooped heads, with perhaps a very small smattering of those less than 60.
Any nun present would not be young and in full habit like these good sisters in the video...but rather totally in layclothes, and all pushing the upper 70's and even reaching the 80's. Likewise the faithful crowd would be less than 1/2 this group was, and mostly elderly. A trio in the front would be standing by the altar, at the ready with their guitars. And the choir would be singing the usually drivel..."Gather us in", etc, etc.

'Rejected at other shrines' is a true statement, and it is heartening to see this event occur. Up until only recently, the three day Starkenburg pilgrimage in Missouri which ends at the shrine has been blocked entry and I believe the Society are still are barred from celebrating Holy Mass in the old church. Yet, Bishops continue to consolidate, shackle and close churches in their own diocese only to see them razed for housing or sold to protestant or heretical entities ...

Leon, His Excellency, the bishops of the Society and all those who have attached themselves to it work towards full regularization. It is a travesty that our Mother the Church has found Herself in the state she is in, but we pray for the Holy Father, as all good Catholics should and recognize him as such - he is whom God gave us at this time in history. We are not obligated to follow heretical teaching or bad example though and hold fast to what the Church has always taught. Offer a novena for this 'spiritual wan character' as you call him. Even Saul had him moment and look at what he became.

Raspberry, Children in Catholic schools don't have your knowledge of what is Catholic doctrine -- the priests of VCII are teaching them. People like you who think you can go along with Hitler/Stalin, while remaining lily white should view these pictures -- but what this 'priest' is doing is not as awful as what Francis AND all his electors are doing -fear those who kill the body and the soul! Maybe you better ask yourself what did Jesus, John the Baptist and all the apostles and prophets do when 'God" gave them corrupt leaders.

'Hitler/Stalin' ... you're way off the mark there chief but I can only assume it felt good to say that. Yea, that's a pretty disgusting link and edifying to no one.

Recognize what the Society is doing to preserve authentic Catholic Tradition in the Church, not only in preserving Holy Mass but also in scholastics, catechesis, pilgrimages and events like the one posted here. Many of us are grateful that our Lord has provided us this means of preserving our Faith in these dark times. Thanks be to God.

The Church has been rife with evil and unworthy men in leadership - popes and clergy alike. Do not follow their example or heretical teaching but pray for them and hold fast to the Truth. That was my point.

Ave Maria,

Finally, it's about time that awful mausoleum received a proper Roman Catholic Mass. Might drive off some of those masonic demons hanging around it!

I know perfectly well Saul's end Anonymous - hardly a glorious one for someone who exhibited destructive qualities of jealousy. Let me remind you from the Book of Samuel.
"And the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gelboe. And the Philistines fell upon Saul, and upon his sons, and they slew Jonathan, and Abinadab and Melchisua the sons of Saul. And the whole weight of the battle was turned upon Saul: and the archers overtook him, and he was grievously wounded by the archers. Then Saul said to his armourbearer: Draw thy sword, and kill me: lest these uncircumcised come, and slay me, and mock at me. And his armourbearer would not: for he was struck with exceeding great fear. Then Saul took his sword, and fell upon it. And when his armourbearer saw this, to wit, that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword and died with him. So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armourbearer, and all his men that same day together."

the Society is wasting its time with the regularisation process - a personal prelature will lead to sterilisation of The SSPX. The best one can do is use the vital energy to evangelise Sacred Tradition unhindered by the shackles of liberal modern subversion - any group now gone over to this type of fixture is not having it easy as the asphyxiating grip of conciliarism is tightened to force acceptance of what is unacceptable on naive thinking traditionalists who think they can do deals with people who have lost touch with the true sensus catholicus. It would be no different for The Society.
Another attempted deal will shatter The Confraternity. better not and remain united doing what is best. "Full communion" means very little of nay significance today. In fact, it is a sign of compormise, fudge and risks failure to keep what has been handed down to us from our forefathers in Faith. I prefer my rightful heritage to a liberal modernist pantheist mess of potage.

I drank the water at Lourdes about 4 years ago, what a blessing, After that day no colitis, I didn't notice it that day it just never really came back and from then on no more restricted diet I got to eat all the pastries in Breton and everywhere else. I owe everything to the Holy Kingdom of France, our Lady's country, the greatest nation on Earth and the nation that saved the Holy Mass and will save the world with the Great Monarch and Holy Pontiff

With the liberal modernists at the rotting helm of the new church we have no need of such apparatus. Their destiny is already marked out for them by Pope St Pius X...the enemy within.

Tancred said...

Your prognostications all seem to tend toward impending disaster and despair.

The tonsure rocks, no Vatican 2 cretin would ever wear it so you know instantly that man has tradition.
Oh btw, the tonsure is another thing that was essentially (with you know, ambiguous Vatican 2 language) banned around 1970 by Pope saint Paul VI.

Probably a dumb question but are those all priests or some and acolytes?

No not despair but the welcome end to novus ordoism and the liberal enemy within. My joy is in contemplation of Our Blessed Lord and His final victory.
