SSJ Part of Investigation of Paraguay Diocese

Edit: the Society of St. John isn't an innocent group of shepherds at work in the fields of The Lord. Let's pray that the treatment unjustly meted out for real Traditionalist societies is justly given here.

CIUDAD DEL ESTE, Paraguay — Pope Francis will send an apostolic delegation to the Diocese of Ciudad del Este to investigate the vicar general, who has a history of sexual-abuse accusations.

Archbishop Eliseo Ariotti, apostolic nuncio to Paraguay, announced July 2 that the Pope will be sending an apostolic visitation to the diocese July 21-26 “to determine not only what has happened recently, but all there is to see in the house of Ciudad del Este.”

Cardinal Santos Abril y Castello, archpriest of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, will lead the investigation; he is to be assisted by Bishop Milton Troccoli Cebedio, an auxiliary of the Archdiocese of Montevideo.

Don't Blame the Catholic Church for Carlos Urrutigoity, Blame the Dark Spirit of Old Liberalism

Edit: we've been trying to expose this tight-knit cult of pseudo-traditionalists for a while. As we pointed out about others of this type, they are clever, cunning and they have a lot of help.

Carlos Urrutigoity has not been accused recently of any sexual misdeeds, but given his past, we're 100% sure that the Church will be blamed. What ever happened to Dominican Inquisitors?

NBC has posted another article by a local journalist who shares in the outrage that such a man is put in a position of trust, even though he has a scandalous past. But just check out this paragraph:
Father Carlos Urrutigoity glides into the sanctuary, his ivory and scarlet robes swishing between the pews. Revered by his flock in the unruly diocese of eastern Paraguay’s Ciudad del Este, the priest will deliver his sermon to hundreds of worshippers. They will later clamor outside the church to meet the man, to receive his benediction.
It's the most recent story by the major news organs about the Society of Saint John's and its Father Urrutigoity who's had credible accusations against him, as well as he has been denounced by Archbishop Timlin and his former colleague who had the courage to oppose him, Doctor Bond, whom we've tried to contact when Deacon Levine was getting ordained in Oregon.

Despite the efforts and risks of many, Father Carlos Urrutigoity (Carlito) is now the second in command in Paraguay, an area with a lot of human trafficking and at risk youth. One thing they'll tell you, and that's usually the thing with this artificial outrage affairs in the major media, is that they're very selective as to who they go after, and they're very particular also about their chosen targets.

They don't spend much time talking about the rampant sex abuse among the movement to legitimize aberrosexualism, in the Green Party, or the Socialists, or rampant sexual abuse among Islamic religious figures. There are no causal links between aberrosexualism and sexual predators and those who engage in human trafficking, but there is always a causal link established in the minds of the masses between the Catholic Church and sexual abuse. Even faithful Catholics believe there is a connection.

Just remember, the SSPX, even after giving Carlos Urrutigoity a second chance, threw him out of the Society.

The SSPX expelled a sexual predator, and now he's been given a new lease on life in another part of the world. We'd suggest that if he'd converted to Judaism and was teaching Hebrew at a Schul, it's hard to believe that anyone would care. What's certain is that the Church will be blamed, not the Liberalism and permissiveness which is now infected it so thoroughly, it's difficult to see Christ in It at all. For many, it's become impossible.

"Former" SSJ Superior Monsignor Carlos Urrutigoity Now Second in Command of Paraguay Diocese

The bishop of the Diocese of Scranton will write a letter to Pope Francis warning about an alleged sexual predator priest  who has risen to second-in-command in a Paraguayan diocese.

Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, the present ordinary, in the Diocese the alleged predator was suspended,  is deeply concerned about this state of affairs and is reaffirming the previous ordinary, Bishop Martino.

In February, Monsignor  Urrutigoity was named the vicar general, second-in-command, in the Diocese Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. As a member of the Society of St. John, he was accused of sharing alcohol and a bed with students at St. Gregory's Academy in Elmhurst in 2004. He was not charged with a crime because of the statute of limitations, but there was a civil settlement.  Of course, SNAP is closely involved.

Bishop Martino, Bishop Bambero’s predecessor, has already expressed his own reservations about him. Although the Society of St. John was suspended in his Diocese, Bishop Bambera has no jurisdiction.  It’s difficult to believe that Father Urrutigoity’s ordinary wouldn’t have known about the present situation.

A review board, the Southdown Institute,  looked into the suitability of both clerics for the priestly life.  Father Eric Ensey was diagnosed with being sexually attracted to adolescent boys.

Deacon and Superior of Disgraced SSJ Ordained in Oregon

No one's disputing the man's right to work, but many of his supporters talk as if he could do nothing else than be a priest.  Arguably, turning a blind eye and defending his predatory friends and associates in the face of fair accusations and misappropriation of funds constitutes the kind of offense that would disqualify you from being ordained; but they've lowered the bar, obviously, as anyone who knows a sample of priests in the Modern Church can attest..  Apparently, Dr. Bond has written a letter to the local ordinary allowing this man to be ordained.

On the evening of September 14, 2010, Central Oregon Catholics were privileged to witness the ordination of Joseph Karl Levine to the priesthood. Held at the new St. Francis of Assisi Church on NE 27th St. in Bend, the ceremony was conducted by Bishop Robert F. Vasa and attended by approximately 500 of the faithful. More than 30 priests from the Diocese of Baker and from as far away as Brazil [from the Society of Saint John?] were also present. Other dignitaries at the Mass of Ordination were Thomas Connolly, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Baker, and James Timlin, Bishop Emeritus of Scranton, Pennsylvania [who supported the Society of Saint John as long as possible until he retired and his successor suppressed the Society in that diocese].

Fr. Levine has been assigned as Associate Pastor to St. Francis Parish.

Controversial deacon defends himself

Here he is at an Oregon Parish where he's listed as a "transitional Deacon" despite being bounced on two other occasions from other Diocese because you were covering up for predatory homosexuals like Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity.

He responds here too.

He puts long statement in Sunday’s parish bulletin Church official acknowledges relocating here due to allegations. His “reputation” was “destroyed” in two other dioceses, he admits.

Jan. 26, 2010

A Catholic deacon who was refused ordination two years ago by a New Jersey bishop and was ousted by a Pennsylvania bishop now works at a Bend Oregon church and is defending himself in Sunday in St. Francis parish bulletins.

Leaders of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, are unmoved by Deacon Joseph Levine’s missive.

“It’s deceitful and wrong for Levine to basically blame one individual for his own recklessness and cowardice,” said David Clohessy of SNAP. “And he did tremendous hardship by publicly and repeatedly defending pedophile priests. If he’s made peace with one former colleague, that’s wonderful. But he’s evidently done little or nothing to ‘un-do’ the real damage he’s done to Catholic families, Pennsylvania citizens and clergy sex abuse victims.”

Below is a copy of 1) Levine’s defense, 2) SNAP’s recent news release about Levine and 3) SNAP’s letter to Baker’s Catholic bishop about Levine. SNAP has not heard back from the bishop.

1) The following will appear by way of a bulletin insert:

When a man has been subject to vicious calumnies and been forced to relocate on account of them, he does not want to introduce himself to his new acquaintances by saying something like, “Hello, my name is John Doe and these are all the nasty things people are saying about me.” Anyone who reflects for a moment on the embarrassing events of his own life will, I think, agree that he would prefer not to have to introduce himself by making reference to those incidents.

I came to the Baker Diocese after my reputation had been destroyed in two other dioceses where I had worked despite the fact that in those dioceses the Bishops were very pleased with my faithfulness and dedication. In fact, both of them would have very willingly ordained me. Bishop Vasa and Fr. Joseph Reinig were fully informed of the circumstances. Now, however, it has come to my attention that half-truths are circulating in the parish and so it has become necessary to address the matter publicly. I am grateful that I have been allowed to work among you for the past five months without having to explain my past association. I hope that you now have some personal experience of me which will allow you to consider more objectively the worth or value of that which is now being said about me. You have the living man before you.

It is now more than six years since I was a member of a community called the Society of St. John that was established in the Diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1998. I joined the community the same year because I thought the purpose was good and, to my knowledge, the men involved were good. Nevertheless, a scandal arose in which the priest-founder, Fr. Carlos Urrutigoity, another priest, Fr. Eric Ensey, were accused of sexual abuse. Though I was only a deacon I was placed in a position for which I was little prepared and succeeded the priest-founder as Superior of the community, even though the priest-founder’s charismatic influence remained dominant. I mistakenly believed that the priest-founder was innocent and defended him as such. In retrospect, I now know I was very naïve in my judgment. That naïve judgment has plagued me ever since. I have been repeatedly accused of having knowingly participated in a ‘cover-up’. That is the most serious allegation that has ever been made against me.

One man in particular, Dr. Jeffrey Bond, made an issue of these things and succeeded first in pressuring the Bishop of Scranton not to ordain me to the priesthood and then he succeeded in pressuring the Bishop of Paterson, New Jersey. Dr. Bond is highly credible because he had both firsthand knowledge and had made a diligent investigation. In the end, I have come to admit that he was substantially correct in his assessment of Fr. Urrutigoity. Before I came to Bend, Bishop Vasa acted as mediator between myself and Dr. Bond. The Bishop made reconciliation with him a condition for my acceptance into the Diocese. As a result of that mediation I wrote a lengthy explanatory letter and apology to Dr. Bond. That explanation and apology was accepted and Dr. Bond, who was almost singlehandedly responsible for the previous cancellation of priestly ordination plans, withdrew his objections to my ordination. My letter and Dr. Bond’s reply will be available in PDF format to any who wish to read it. Dr. Bond has the fullest knowledge of the serious problems with the Society of Saint John and they were extensive. Thus his withdrawal of objections speaks to the sincerity and seriousness of my apology and acknowledgment of error. Unfortunately, it is much easier to focus on events at the Society than the very significant journey I have been on since my departure from and the subsequent collapse of that community.
